  1. Reflection

This week I can reflect on all the difficulties I went through when creating my copy ads. First, I spent some time thinking on catchy headers for each one of the ad categories. Then, I decided on the services provided by my fictional daycare, phone and address. Finally, I gathered some pictures on internet to match my message. I utilized PowerPoint because I feel more comfortable using this program. I like that every assignment brings a challenging to me and I learn how to achieve it, as I’m not a savvy with technology. What I learned from my classmates’ ad is that every one of them reflected part of their personality through their blogs and copy ads. Many of them do not include photo or any image on their ads, which I consider important to catch the eye of the reader. I’m a visual person, so I always go for the images. I enjoyed the different styles and messages and the creative headers that some of them utilized. I found that if the ad was cluttered with so much text, was not as effective as those having just some lines and a meaningful image. Being mindful, knowing our community, adding promotions, phone number and support our credibility in our add can lead us to target the right clients we are looking for.

  2. Reflection: Week 7
Learning how to use Blogger to create ads was very insightful this week. I struggled initially with layout and design but was able to make progress after trying several different things. I learned how to add the copy page to the blog, thanks to the instructions that were provided. I also struggled with adding media to the page and formatting it to my liking. I found myself exporting some items to Microsoft office and editing there before re-importing it to Blogger.
Another challenge was narrowing down the idea that I wanted to make the copy page about. I started with one idea but found myself changing it about 3 times, before I settled on something that was satisfactory: a read-a-long for kids. Blogger makes it easy for the user to design their blogs with little or no prior experience. After this class, I should be able to write my own blog, and also advertise my center.
Reading through some of the postings of my classmates, I realize that others had some of the same design and layout challenges that I was facing, meaning that I wasn’t the only one. Yet their ads were creative, and the media content was aligned to the concept they were advertising. An interesting trend I noticed was that most people were careful to choose ideas that would be captivating to kids, and also beneficial to parents. And this was the same guideline that I used in narrowing down my ad choices for the read-a-long session.

I’m glad that I got to learn how to create a copy ad. At first I had no idea what they really were, until I really got the chance to jump right in and create them. The hardest part for me was to create the catchy phrase. The heading is what states the type of ad your creating, and the catchier it is, the more interest potential customers are going to have. Once I created these headlines, the description aspect came pretty easy. From looking at my classmates, I learned that I could of gotten more creative with my some of my designs. However I did share my conversation ad, which dealt with sunshine, and I do think that my bright yellow background makes a bold statement about how happy everyone is. I’ve used blogger before with another class, so that made this assignment fun for me. I enjoyed creating it and adding pages, and I look forward to adding on to it during week 8.

  4. Week 7 Blog Copy Ad Reflection
This week we learned about creating our own blogs using Blogger, using gidgets to add pages and create our own copy ads. When looking at my classmates' blog posts on our student discussion board page, I think I could have added a little more detail to my pages. However, I am always contemplating if I am repeating myself too much and putting too much into my pages and don't want to ramble on, but I still think I could have added some more detail to my descriptions. The most challenging part for me and I still can't understand why it is difficult still, but copying my ad pages to my blog page to look professional and be cropped correctly.
I liked the idea of my blog theme to be a set of colorful books on a bookshelf to represent the "learning", idea. I think next time I would like to explore more blog ideas and opportunities for week 8 assignment and incorporate a different layout as well.

  5. Week 7 Copy Ad Blog Reflection

This week we got to create a Blog on Blogger.com and I can say at first I was worried when the directions came out to use the simple version if we weren't used to using it. This made me worry but then I watched a couple YouTube videos on Blogger.com and how to create one. I would freeze the video and go back to the application and then complete the step I just watched and learned to return to the video to watch and learn the next step. This made this process work easily for me. I struggled with the pictures because when I inserted my PowerPoint created Ads they wouldn't show on the preview page of my Blog. I tried a couple of ways and didn't still get it to work. I went to do some errands with my family to come back fresh to problem solve to get them to load a different way. I took pictures of the Ads with my phone, downloaded Google Photos and loaded them the long way but it worked.

I enjoyed looking and commenting on the other Ads. I liked to see what others were able to create and the information that they were putting on their Ads. It is like looking at an Advertisement page and the differences how companies share their information. I went simple with my Ads and used pictures of my actual program or families and myself. I think it is good to do this because those reading don't become overwhelmed. Great Week~Jennifer

  6. Week 7 Reflection

I really enjoyed creating a blog this week. I didn't find it to be that dificult but I use a lot of different tech tools. Having a blog can actually be very beneificial for another form of communication with my families. I don't think I will start using it right away but I plan to mess around with it more and see if it can be something I would like to implement. I used the snipping tool on my computer to be able to capture a picture of my ad from Powerpoint so that did make it a lot easier to when submitting the ad.

It was great to look through and see everyones blogs and learn a little more about their own personal style. Also seeign how my classmates did their copy ads really helped me get more ideas on how to create a better copy ad for my own program. Before last week I did not have a lot of experience with creating copy ads but after working on the 4 that we did and looking at others I feel a lot more comfortable with creating them. Really great week everyone.

  7. WEEK #7 - REFLECTION

After having a chance to create my own blog this week, I thoroughly enjoyed creating it. I have learned the significance of having a blog, and how it can be an effective tool for my business. When it comes to communicating with parents, having a blog can be a great asset to have. I am totally excited about knowing how to create a blog, that I plan on making another one this upcoming week so that I can share my technology skills with my children. The snipping tool was a tool that I used to capture the picture of my ad. My ad was created by using Microsoft Word and getting the design from off of the Internet. Moreover, my classmates blogs were totally awesome, and I loved the creativity that was demonstrated in my classmates blogs.

  8. Reflection:

Incorporating technology has become an important part of education. Technology has changed the level of communication between families and teachers. Technology has made it necessary for schools to invest in or to upgrade current technology. Teachers can stay connected using emails, class websites, and blogs. The biggest take away I received from creating this Blog was the realization that it’s possible for me to develop and use a blog as a teacher.

I’m not into technology. In fact I’m the type of person that will keep a cellphone and computer for decades. At first it was a little intimidating creating this blog but, Blogger made it so easy for novice to use. I enjoyed creating this blog. I was able to play around with themes, background colors. Adding Links and RSS feeds was a learning curve. When creating this blog, I used the information from chapter 13 to give me an outline to how and what I wanted to focus on. The biggest thing that impressed me about blogging is how easy it was for me to control and maintain the information I want to post. A website need to be maintained to avoid being static but, after adding the links and feeds to my blog it appeared as if things were constantly being updated and changed. Maintaining a website can be costly. Blogging doesn’t require additional cost for domain name or hosting.

This experience made me so excited and opened my mind up to other blogging ideas. I brought up the idea of creating a blog to my director, but she preferred Facebook. I just think she wasn’t being opened minded to the endless possibilities a blog could add to the center. Teachers could use blogging instead of newsletters. This would be a huge saving on the cost of paper and printer ink. We could use this as means to connect families together as an online community.

I also enjoyed seeing what other classmates did with their blog and ad. Everyone came up with completely different links and RSS. I was able to compile a list for possible future references.
